Not all site-building packages are the same. No site-building software packages produce HTML the same way. HotDog, the Netscape editor, FrontPage, GoLive, Contribute, Dreamweaver, most Microsoft packages, or (heaven help you) Visual InterDev; all produce different HTML output. Some of this software includes non-standard tags in the produced scripts requiring extra software on your Web server for proper execution and display. (i.e.: Cold Fusion, FrontPage).

That's why Laughing Otter adopted the policy of hand-editing all HTML/JavaScript/CSS and other scripting years ago. Why spend hundreds of dollars on site-building software that may or may not be supported by your server when Notepad (and other good text editors) are free and you are completely assured that what you produce will work, no matter what is used to view it?
