Evolution of a Wall
Once I was gullible.
Once I was brave.
Once I would rush in-only fools rush in-
to any situation.
My heart was unprotected, and
I was hurt.
I felt like something had died.
I started to build a wall
to protect me, and
Although I was cautious,
I was hurt again.
I put another stone in the wall.
As these actions were repeated,
The wall grew stronger.
Then I met a man who chipped at the wall-
I felt hate for him
How dare he!
I was scared as he came close
to my heart.
Then he said he loved me and
told me to be brave
because everyone is hurt.
Once, twice, always.
Again I follow my heart.
